BJP leader and Former Minister Padmalochan Panda has demanded resignation of Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi concerning a video depicting the latter taking chicken curry in a school amid students during a midday meal (MDM) check.
While students were eating rice and dal, the Minister was taking additional items and the vedio went viral.
Either the Chief Minster should sack him for his inappropriate conduct or he should resign on moral ground, Panda reiterated, in a Press brief.
Panigrahi, in the video, was seen having lunch at the Ekalabya model residential school in Raygada when other students sitting beside were having vegetarian meal in the MDM during his visit to the institution.
“This incident has brought shame to the residents of Simulia as well as the State. Being a Minister, he doesn’t know how he should represent himself before the students and school inmates. On the similar issue earlier a block education officer was suspended. He should quit the ministerial berth or else agitation would be held. His effigies would be burnt and all his Government programmes would be vehemently opposed,” warned Panda .
It may be noted Panda a veteran politician, and a branded Congress leader had joined BJP ahead of general elections and unsuccessfully contested for Simulia Assembly seat in BJP ticket . He lost to Panigrahi (BJD), son of former Minister Parsuram Panigrahi(BJD) by a margin of around 15,000 votes last time.
