Hundreds of BJP activists led by Balangir district president Bhakta Bandhu staged demonstration at the Collectorate here on Tuesday demanding removal of Justice MM Das heading the Commission of Inquiry into chit fund scam and Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma for his chit fund link.
They criticised the statement made by Justice Das pertaining to return of money to the duped investors at a BJD lawyers’ forum and suggested that a new Justice be appointed in consultation with the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.
They burnt the effigies of Dasburma and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
The BJP activists of Ganjam unit also staged demonstration before the Sub Collector office with similar demands. They were led by BJP district president Kahnu Charan Pati. They showed several posters against Dasburma and Justice Das and held a rally. They submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Sub Collector where they said that there is an urgent need to dismiss both Dasburma and Justice Das to ensure fair probe and return of money to lakhs of depositors. Among others, Balakrushna Samantray, Sisir Padhi, Gopinath Panda, Saroj Sabat, Bibhuti Jena, Rabindra Sahu and Madan Mohan Patro were present.
In Kandhmal, BJP members held demonstration at the district Collector’s office. They were led by district president lingaraj Dalabehera, Karendra Majhi, Kamal Kanta Pandey, Ram Bisi Tamal, Satya Narayan Behera, Bhagaban Mohanty and Debnarayan Pradhan, among others.
