Odisha Maovadi Party leader Sabyasachi Panda’s wife Subhashree, alias Milli Panda, a social activist from Ranpur, is likely to join the BJD, sources said.
Milli on Saturday went to the Naveen Nivas to meet BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik possibly for this purpose but could not meet him. “I came here as an activist, who fights for women, and not as the wife of Sabyasachi,” said Milli, adding, “If the BJD chief feels my importance, he will consider me as a disciplined member of his party.”
Milli said she has already decided to contest from her Assembly constituency of Ranpur. “If I don’t get ticket from any party, I will contest as an Independent candidate,” she said. Milli’s father-in-law late Ramesh Panda was a three-time CPI(M) MlA from Ranpur.
