Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra, who is looked upon as a messiah for his philanthropic activities during Covid-19 lockdowns and shutdowns, has been named as English magazine Outlook’s Person of the Year 2020 for his relief work for students and migrants during the pandemic. Heaping praises on actor, ‘Outlook’ said, “An SOS from a group of Odia students dramatically changed Sabyasachi Mishra’s journey.

The Odia film star was at the fountainhead of some much-needed relief work that common people, especially migrant workers, needed in  wake of Covid pandemic.” Mishra said, “Previously, I used to be on social media to promote my films. During lockdowns, I started receiving different messages from people from different parts of country seeking help. Initially, I ignored those messages. But once I started talking to them, my confidence to address their grievances started building up. In just two months, I managed to establish a network of volunteers through my fans and well-wishers. And every impossible task became possible with their presence and strong support.”
