A girl of Sundargarh district, who had warned to stage protest in front of the Raj Bhavan at Bhubaneswar on December 30, got justice from Governor Ganeshi  Lal.

After an order of Governor, the girl has been given admission in MSc Computer Science in the Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur.

Sonalisa Roul, a resident of Hemgiri in Sundargarh district, mentioned in her letter that she did her +2 Arts with IT subject from Panchayat Samiti Junior College , Hemgiri in Sundargarh district, during the year 2017 and had passed with  Ist division. Sonalisa had applied through online for studying  BSc  Computer Science and had downloaded her online application on 19.06.2017, from wesbsite of Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur. As per the merit list of GM University of  28.06.2017, Sonalisa had deposited  Rs 12,012 admission fee for self financing course in Ist year  BSc Computer Science and had been admitted in the course and paid Rs 12,012 next two years alongwith other fees for doing the course. Sonalisa while doing her 3rd year in B.Sc Computer Science had applied through online for appearing an entrance test of Common PG Entrance Test(CPET-2020), Odisha but her application had not been accepted mentioning that she had Arts stream in her +2 studies. Therefore Sonalisa could not appear for CPET Exam 2020.

Sonalisa thereafter had written to Vice Chancellor of GM University  on 26.08.2020 through registered post  and email and had written about how she was denied to appear in CEPT Exam and had requested the Vice Chancellor, to reserve a seat in MSc Computer Science, for her because due to the mistake of GM University, she had not been able to appear in CPET Exam 2020.

However, Sonalisa was informed that as per eligibility criteria specified in the admission prospectus, she was not eligible for admission to BSc Computer Science.

After getting the letter, Sonalisa got shocked. She wrote to the Governor, Odisha on March 6, 2021 and mentioned how her studies has been affected. Sonalisa had written that being a meritorious student with a first class career, she was denied higher education  and her future is pushed into darkness. She had requested the Governor, who is the Chancellor of universities, to give instruction for her admission in MSc Computer Science(PG Course) in GM University.

“I am very happy that I have finally got justice and have got admission in MSc Computer Science after the intervention of the Governor,” said Sonalisa.
