Sambalpur MLA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi has requested the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Sambalpur to allot at least five acres of land for construction of a national-level museum and a rail museum in Sambalpur.

The request was made after Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had agreed to the request of Dr Panigrahi to take initiative for opening of a rail museum under the Sambalpur Railway Division.

Appreciating the MLA’s views, Pradhan said a national-level museum along with a rail museum should be constructed here and announced that the Central Government would release initial grant of Rs five crore to start the work immediately.

He also requested the MLA to take step to allot five acres of land for the purpose before the implementation of code of conduct for the ensuing general elections.

Dr Panigrahi in a letter to the RDC said, “It has now become a prestige issue for the State Government to provide land as quickly as possible for the huge project to start” and requested him to take steps at the soonest.
