A woman teacher of a Government school in Sundargarh district has levelled allegations of polygamy against her husband, who is also a teacher.
The woman also alleged that her husband was torturing her and dumped her after marrying another teacher. Based on her complaint the District Project Officer has directed the Hemgiri Block Education Officer to conduct an inquiry.
Sources said Prakash Mahanandia, who has been working as a teacher in Khapurikachar Primary School under Hemgiri block was married to Mamata Kaliari, who works as teacher in Tangerdihi Primary School under Hemgiri block. The couple has a six-year-old daughter.
Sources said Prakash married one Bindu Singh, a teacher in Kanika UP School on May 18, 2018 by filing a false affidavit in court.
When Mamata came to know about her husband’s marriage with another woman, she had met the Sundargarh district Collector in August and informed him about her husband’s second marriage.
As per the instruction of Collector, DPC and DEO had directed Prakash to stay from Bindu and had also told Bindu to give in writing not to interfere in Prakash and Mamata’s family life.
But later Prakash and Bindu again resumed their relationship and when Mamata protested, Prakash allegedly threatened her and mentally tortured her. Meanwhile, Hemgiri block BEO Surendra Kumar Sahoo conducted an inquiry and recommended action against Prakash in his report.
