The Birmitrapur police arrested five youths from Rampur village in the district on Tuesday night in connection with the gangrape of a minor girl in a forest in the district on July 8.
With this, total seven persons have so far been arrested in connection with the case. Earlier on Tuesday, the police had arrested two minor boys for the gangrape.
But two more youths are still absconding and manhunt is on to nab them, police said.
On Monday, family members of a 17-year-old girl lodged a complaint with the Biramitrapur police alleging that the minor was gangraped in a forest near Harpali Basti in the district on July 8. The complaint was lodged after a video of the gangrape went viral on social media.
On the fateful day two girls had gone to a forest near Harpali Basti with two male friends. While one girl returned home, the other girl was raped by seven youths and the video of the incident was uploaded in social media.
