A girl of Sundargarh district, with the hope to tie the nuptial knot with her lover, has been camping in a cowshed in front of her lover’s house for last 22 days.

She is even cooking food for herself and demanding that her lover who ditched her must marry her, or otherwise be arrested. The girl on Wednesday again lodged a complaint against the family members of her lover for scolding and beating her and the Bargaon police have registered a case and started an inquiry.

According to sources, Jamuna Kalo (24), a resident of Dhumagada village under Bargaon police limits, had fallen in love with one Janmejaya Themria (28), a resident of Bankibahal under Bargaon police limits in Sundargarh district.

Janmejaya is brother of her sister-in-law (her brother’s wife). Janmejaya works in OSAP 7th Battalion at Bhubaneswar. Their love relationship continued for about 10 years. Jamuna had been telling Janmejaya to marry her but Janmejaya was avoiding her.

During July 2021, when Jamuna remained firm and told Janmejaya to marry her, he did not agree to marry her. Jamuna had lodged complaint in Bargaon police station against Janmejaya for raping her and also had lodged complaint against his other family members including his elder brother who also works in OSAP 7th Battalion at Bhubaneswar for threatening her. Bargaon police after registering case during the month July 2021,  had arrested elder brother of Janmejaya from Bhubaneswar but Janmejaya, the prime accused, had gone absconded.
