Bringing laurels to the country, Odisha shuttler Rutuparna Panda paired with Arathi Sara Sunil to win the women’s doubles title at the Hellas Open-2018 badminton tournament in Greece on Sunday.
This is the first international title won by the ace badminton player from the State.
Rutuparna and Arathi achieved the feat by beating France’s Vimala Heriau and Margot Lambert 21-19, 21-12 in 50 minutes.
Notably, the two players paired in May this year after Rituparna’s regular partner Mithula UK sustained injuries.
