Odisha is known for its diverse culture and the rural cultural meet is a medium to encourage rural school children to display their skills, said NTPC Talcher Kaniha Group General Manager Debasish Sarkar on Sunday, inaugurating the Rural Cultural Meet 2016-17.

Four hundred thirty- three rural students of 31 schools of nearby villagers participated in the meet. This is the sixth year, NTPC Talcher Kaniha has organised such a meet.
In senior category, Derang High School was declared the best performing group and in junior category Burubahal UPS and sub-junior category Golaghara Sahi PS were the winners respectively.
Prizes and trophies were distributed to the winners at the closing ceremony of the cultural meet by Talcher Kaniha Group General Manager Sarkar and NTPC Kaniha GM (HR) PK Mahapatra.
