The Riverside Utility Private limited (RUPl), a Cesu franchisee, which has taken charge of maintenance of electricity infrastructure and collection of power tariff is allegedly harassing consumers in different ways.
Allegations have come to the fore that RUPl staffs are using force to collect tariff from existing consumers and demanding huge bribes for new connections. It is also alleged that staffs intentionally increase units of power consumption forcing consumers to run to the RUPl office time and again.
Most of the electric bills for March have come with much higher units for which people were seen making a beeline at the Jharanchhak office on Wednesday to settle bills. What pained them is that no employee was found to redress their grievances. locals have demanded the Cesu authorities to intervene and redress consumers’ grievance soon.
