In a daring broad daylight robbery, the owner of a private firm was robbed of Rs 6.5 lakh by motorbike-borne miscreants in the Civil Township area here on Friday.
The businessman, identified as Pitabas Patra, was returning home after withdrawing money from the ICICI Bank when two motorbike-borne miscreants intercepted him near Civil Township area at around 1.50 pm.
When Patra offered resistance, the miscreants thrashed him and snatched the bag containing the money.
On being informed about the incident, the Raghunathpalli police rushed to the spot and sent injured Patra to the nearby hospital. Police have initiated investigations to identify and trace the culprits.
