During summer every year, people in Joda face a lot hardship for drinking water. Not only the groundwater level goes down but water sources dry up.
Keeping in view the water scarcity, the Rungta Mines of Barbil has built several drinking water projects in Keonjhar district as an initiative of its CSR activities.
In 2013, the company had set up a cold water supply project at a cost of over `1.70 lakh near the Joda civic body office. But residents were deprived of availing the facility from the beginning of the session due to some technical problems in the project. However, immediate steps were taken by the Rungta company to rectify the same when the matter came to its notice.
Finally, the project got ready for use, for which Ward-2 Councillor Srikants Sawant and local people are very happy as earlier. Sources close to the company said the company is gearing itself to see to it that no further disruption is experienced in the water supply.
