An officer-in-charge of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Jajpur town and two others were killed in separate road accidents in the State.
According to reports, the RTO official Manoj Behera was hit by a speeding Hyva truck from behind near Chandpur under the Panikoili police limits in Jajpur in the wee hours of Monday while he was inspecting vehicles on the National Highway. Behera died on the spot. “A case has been registered in connection with the incident. The driver of the truck has been detained for interrogation,” said Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena.
In another mishap, two youths died and another sustained critical injuries after a bike by which they were travelling collided head on with a car near the Thirubali bridge in Rayagada district late on Sunday night. The deceased were identified as Sanjay Huika and Tuna Kadraka of Buriguda village.
The injured was admitted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital. The driver of the car fled the spot soon after the accident. locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. Police started probe into the incident.
