Noted RTI activist Jayanta Kumar Das on Friday demanded action against Koraput district Collector V Jayakumar for restricting officials and common citizens from wearing jean pants and T-shirts and using mobile phones and, thereby, harassing them.

Das lodged this grievance before the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the State Government.

“Hundred of citizens who came to the Collectorate, Koraput with their grievances on Thursday returned without meeting the Collector by reading the Talibani notice pasted on the wall. They all apprehended legal actions like arrests and imprisonment,” Das stated in his grievance.

He mentioned that an 80-year-old man had to return without meeting the Collector as his grandson, who had come with him as a support, was in T-shirt and jean trouser.

“The Talibani notice has hampered the right to life of the citizens. And as a Government servant, he has also violated the Article 375 of the Constitution. I pray you to take this grievance seriously and conduct an inquiry and take necessary legal action against the district Collector,” demanded Das.
