The Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Odisha would intensify membership drive in the State, said Pranta Sanghachalak (Purva Odisha) Samir Kumar Mohanty here on Thursday. Mohanty told reporters that the Sangh has taken initiatives to induct sevaks (workers) to expand its network in the country. “Now around 3,000 persons join the Sangha everyday through ‘Join RSS program’ in the internet, but the number is only 10 in Odisha,” said Mohanty.
He said they would hold a variety of programmes in the State to attract people of all walks of life to join their organisation. They have planned to hold yoga camps in the State to mark the International Yoga Day which falls on June 21. “On this occasion, yoga will be practised including its study for a week from June 15 to June 21 in all the branches of the RSS,” Mohanty said and added that the Sangha would also help other Government or private body in holding yoga camps in the State during that period.
About the Sangha’s structure in the State, he said the RSS is operating 179 education centres in Odisha, 268 health centres, 318 social reformation centres, 249 centres of self-dependence programme and 1014 seva centres in the State. In a recent all-India meet of the Sangh, Odisha has been divided in two parts (eastern and western) on the basis of organisational needs. The two parts would intensify membership drive very soon, Mohanty said.
