The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Sunday signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sulabh International Social Service Organisation (SISSO) here to construct toilets in schools under the ‘Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan’.
RSP CEO GS Prasad said with the signing of the MoU the SAIl has taken another significant step to undertake hygienic activities in schools under the ‘Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan’, which is a part of the ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’ started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The RSP would construct 355 toilets in 239 schools in peripheral villages under Bisra and Nuagaon blocks and in the Rourkela Municipal Corporation area at an total expenditure of Rs 9 crore. The SISSO, which specializes in the field of public toilet facilities, would execute the project, Prasad informed.
Each toilet block would comprise an IWC and a urinal with suitable water supply. Separate toilets would be constructed for girls wherever needed. Besides, a leach pit will be provided for disposal of the waste, which would be later reused as a by-product.
