RSP staff pension discussed with Union Steel Min

Published on:

RSP Executive Association president Bimal Kumar Bisi during his visit to New Delhi on Thursday met Union Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and handed over a memorandum to him on issues concerning the steel industry with specific reference to Rourkela Steel Plant and the problems faced by the executives.

He appealed Tomar to resolve some longstanding issues of the RSP executives. Around 350 junior officers who joined RSP in two batches during 2000 and 2008 are waiting for revision of basic fitment in their pay scales. The revised scales for the executives implemented since January 2012 does not include the 17 per cent fitment benefit which will be removed if the fixed pay clause is revised. Similarly, a decision to implement the scale of pay for executives in E-0, E-1 and E-2 grade is to be taken up by the Ministry with retrospective effect from January 2007. The memorandum included operation of pension scheme in SAIl from 2007 as has been done in other ‘Maharatna’ companies.

The Union Steel Minister assured Bisi to take necessary steps to fulfil the demands. Copies of the memorandum were also given to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Minister of State for Steel and Mines Bishnudev Sai. Bisi is in New Delhi for SEFI election where he is contesting as its president.
