A Rourkela Steel Plant employee was killed in a road accident on Sunday afternoon near Ramabahal Square on State Highway 10, under Rajgangpur police station. His son sustained critical injuries and was hospitalised.
The deceased was identified as Md Wasim (48), who worked as a Chargeman in the Rourkela Steel Plant. He had gone to Rajgangpur along with his 20-year-old son on Sunday, for providing some acupressure treatment to his son on Sunday morning. Wasim was returning to Rourkela with his son in his bike when near Ramabahal square their two-wheeler lost balance and the duo skidded off on road.
A truck coming from behind ran over them.
His son was shifted to the Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela and he was under treatment there in the ICU. The truck driver fled the spot, leaving the truck there.
“We have seized the truck and are searching the driver,” said Rajgangpur police station IIC PK Jena.
