Prahalad Kumar Tanty, an employee in the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), organised a free homoeopathic medical camp at Digha under West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand after moving in the dense Saranda forests, said to a Maoist bastion, in his motorcycle with Dr Ajaya Kumar.
The residents of Digha area are miles away from proper healthcare facilities. Besides, they have been facing tusker menace. Tanty had been aware of the predicament of the villagers in the dense forest. Without caring the Maoists and tuskers, he undertook the journey with the doctor to provide the much needed medical assistance to the people for whom getting Government healthcare is a day dream.
The doctor examined the patients, gave advice and the duo distributed free homoeopathic medicines. For the Digha villagers the duo was their saviours as they got help from outsiders for them first time.
Tanty organised the camp on the request of village chief Niyaran Toppno and Anganwadi worker Seteng lugun assisted the duo.
It is to be mentioned here that though Tanty is an RSP employee but his passion is to extend health services in remote areas. He purchases medicines from his salary and distributes it among the poor free of cost. He is the Odisha Convenor of Mission Homoeopathy (Rural).
