Miscreants on Friday barged into the residence of an Assistant Manager of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) here and looted cash and ornaments worth about Rs 2.5 lakh at gunpoint.
Sources said Tribikram Seth, who works as an Assistant Manager in Tonnage Oxygen Plant of the RSP has been staying with his family at his official quarter at E/54, Sector -4 of the city. At about 12.30 pm, there was a knock at the front door of his house. Seth was on duty then.
His wife Sangita Seth, his three-year-old son and his parents were in the house. Sangita presumed that their newspaper hawker has come to take the monthly paper bill. As she opened the door, she saw two unknown youths standing in front of the door.
One of them suddenly barged into the house and put a gun on her son’s head and demanded the key of her cupboard. Terrified, Sunita immediately obliged. The youths decamped with about 80 grams of the gold ornaments and Rs 3,000 in cash from the cupboard. The miscreants had reportedly come by a two-wheeler.
later, Sangita informed her husband over phone, following which he reached the Sector- 3 police station and lodged a report. The police along with a forensic team reached the spot and started investigation.
“We have lodged a case and have started the investigation. We are on the lookout to nab the culprits,” said Sector -3 PS, IIC Prativa Majhi.
