A body of an employee of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was recovered in a hanging position from his bedroom at his quarters in Sector-22 under the Tangarpalli police station on Wednesday. He was identified as Hadibandhu Majhi (52), who was working in the Steel Melting Shop.
Hadibandhu was residing in the quarters along with his wife and daughter. As usual, he went to sleep after having his dinner on Tuesday night. His daughter and wife slept in another room. But the only odd was that though usually he kept his room door open, this time it was closed. As he did not open the door in the morning for quite a long time, the door was broken open and he was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
Being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection and initiated an investigation. Though the reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, primary evidence suggested that Hadibandhu died by suicide, a senior police official said.
