In a noble way to pay homage to deceased Suresh Raunak, who died while discharging his duty at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) here, a group of his friends and close associates donated Rs52,000 to various organisations in and around Rourkela working for the deprived, physically and mentally-challenged children.

Notably, Raunak, an Andhra Pradesh-based youth engineer, died a month back when a 15-tonne slab fell on him at the RSP.

The team collected the fund by selling the materials that were used by Raunak and from their own contributions and donated it to the lathikata Blind School, Shradha, a house for mentally-challenged children, Shishu Bhawan, Kalpataru Ashram, Missionaries of Charity and Samaj Relief Fund.

“If this amount helps a little to the needy children, then it would be the best homage to the soul of Raunak”, said his friends Prasant Das, Subhrajit Nanda, Abhisek Chandan and Anand Kumar.
