An alarming revelation regarding spending of budgetary allocation of Plan Funds came to the fore on Wednesday when the Assembly was informed that over Rs46,108 crore of Plan Fund had not been spent in the last nine years in the State.

The information furnished by Planning and Coordination Minister Usha Devi in response to a question of BJP MlA Dilip Ray revealed this.

A total of Rs1,46,887.88 crore was allocated as Plan Funds in the Budgets during the period from 2006-07 to 2014-15. But, of this, only Rs107,279.24 crore has been spent. Similarly, a total of Rs8,065.64 crore was allocated in the State Budges under various Central Schemes but only Rs4,448.36 crore has been spent during the period. Besides,  a total amount of Rs13.649,84 crore was allocated under various Centrally-sponsored schemes and of these, only Rs10,527.51 crore has been spent. Under these three plan allocations, the unspent amount is calculated to be over Rs46,108,24 crore.

In a statement, MlA Ray said, “It is disappointing that the State Government has blaming the Union Governments for not providing assistances when it is unable to spend planned funds.”
