In one of the major hauls, the district police seized brown sugar weighing over 10 kg and worth nearly Rs 11 croreand arrested six persons in this connection on Thursday night.
The arrested persons were identified as Ayub,SkHussain,SkSafiq,SkRaju,Sk Sameer and RintuTarai.
While Ayub hails from Madhya Pradesh, the others are residents of the Sahadevkhunta area of Baleswar, said Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range,HimansuLal in a media briefing.
The contraband consignment was seized from the West Bengal-Assam border. It was to be supplied to different parts of Odisha through a drug peddling network masterminded byAyub.
A police patrolling team apprehended the accused from near Fuladi. The cops, besides seizing the contraband, also seized bikes,mobile phones and cash over Rs 21,000 from them.
The smugglers were booked under the NDPS Act while further investigation was underway, police said.
