A day after a broad daylight dacoity in the city, the looters on Saturday afternoon successfully broke the window glass of a car and looted diamond jewellery worth over Rs 10 lakh in full public view.
Most interestingly, the loot took place only a few metres away from the Kharavel police station.
Shyamsundar Patnaik, a salesman of a jewellery company, had gone to a client by keeping his diamond items in the car. When he returned after two hours, he found the window glass of his car damaged and the diamond along with a bank cheque and some other documents vanished.
Patnaik lodged a complaint at the Kharavel Nagar police station. The police started interrogating the salesman to investigate the incident from all angles. The police after taking out the CCTV footages of a jewellery shop, Epari Sadashiv, was examining it to get some clue in the sensational case.
