The BJP on Sunday criticised the State Government for losing Rs1,026 crore worth Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) between the financial years of 2007-08 and 2014-15 due to failure of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
BJP spokesperson Samir Mohanty said the State, which has been beating its drum by telling tales of development, failed to spend the Central fund in time, as a result of which the unutilised fund returned to the Centre. “It proves how effective the State Govt is,” Mohanty said sarcastically. He also alleged that the CM has handed over the entire charge of the admin to the bureaucrats. Even the Ministers have become more confused persons in the matter of taking decisions, he added.
