The Baleswar police on Tuesday raided a house at VSS Nagar here in connection with a fraud to the tune of Rs10 crore lodged against the Baleswar-based Sri Sai Infrastructure firm.
Sources said a team of the Sahadebkhunta police raided the house of a former Deputy Drugs Controller as his wife was a partner in the Sri Sai Infrastructure.
Police had also seized the real estate group’s Chandipur-based office in Baleswar district in March. “In this case of cheating, a fraud to the tune of Rs10 crore has been committed. Around 35-40 individuals had deposited money with this firm. None of them have been provided with shops or residential spaces for which they had deposited money,” said Baleswar DSP Amaresh Panda.
Panda said the chief of the firm was in jail. “With the court’s permission, we have conducted raids at three-four places in Baleswar. We have also seized the Sri Sai Popular Tower and have informed the court. Now with the court’s fresh permission, we are searching the premises of house number Al 6 at VSS Nagar belonging to one SK Das. The firm was using this place as its corporate office,” Panda added.
