Having failed to get their pending dues under MGNREGS, several poverty stricken people of Keshpur gram panchayat under Kendrapada block on Wednesday knocked at the door of the district Collector by bringing to his notice their sorry plight. They alleged that the local Sarpanch had not cleared their dues despite the fact that they had worked for an MGNREGS project which was completed seven months back. They also alleged that there were several fake entries in the muster roll in whose names money was sent.The matter came to the fore recently through RTI reports.
As per RTI reports, several fake beneficiaries, who were affluent and established persons in the gram panchayat, have managed to get the MGNREGS money in their bank accounts whereas the genuine beneficiaries were yet to get their dues. Earlier, these labourers had brought the matter to the notice of BDO, but in vain.
