Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday called up his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik seeking the BJD’s support for JD(U) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh in the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman election.
Patnaik’s response to Kumar’s request was not yet known.Notably, in 2018, the BJD had backed NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh of the JD(U) in the RS Deputy Chairman poll following a telephonic talk between Patnaik and Kumar.
However, BJD was under fire from the opposition for voting in favour of the BJP-led NDA’s candidate. The BJD had explained that it party supported the JD(U) due to ‘ideological similarities’.
