The State Assembly on Friday passed the Appropriation Bill of Rs 98,416, 92, 64,000 for the year 2016-17 in voice vote in absence of Opposition members.

After the Bill was presented by Finance Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat for discussion and approval, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra pulled up the Government in strongest terms for not giving

due importance to the Opposition.

“The Government has adopted an undemocratic attitude in running the House. It has adopted a Hitler

policy which is not good sign for a healthy democracy,” he stated.

He along with his party colleagues staged a walkout in protest. BJP members were not present in the House then. After the Finance Minister spoke, the House passed the Appropriation Bill 2016 in a voice vote.

Earlier, the House had been adjourned many times as Opposition members kept rushing into the Well of the House demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for remaining silent over involvement of ruling BJD leaders in the chit fund scam and in the case of Minister Sanjay Dasburma alleged to have taken Pajero SUVs from Artha Tatawa  ponzi firm.
