Five motorbike-borne miscreants late on Thursday night looted Rs 97,000 from the staffs of a petrol pump at Hajira Chowk under the Marshaghai police station in the district.
Marshaghai PS IIC Kalandi Behera said the miscreants came to the petrol pump and asked the attendants to tank up petrol in their motorbikes.
When the attendant refused to oblige, they assaulted him and barged into the office of the petrol pump. They then brandished guns and snatched the cash from cashier Chitta Ranjan Swain and sped away from the spot.
On Friday morning, owner of the petrol pump Biswa Prakash Swain lodged an FIR with the Marshaghai police, who registered a case.
