A team of the Vigilance police on Wednesday seized cash of Rs 6 lakh and a pistol from the possession of a police Constable near his Government residence under the Baghiapada police outpost in Boudh.
Following the seizure, the anti-graft agency arrested the policeman in this connection, who has been identified as Harekrushna Sahu. The cop is presently working in the Boudh District Voluntary Force (DVF).
According to an official source, Harekrushna was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a person. He had demanded the bribe from the complainant to give protection to illegal ganja cultivation. Officials from the Brahmapur and Boudh Vigilance divisions comprised the team.
