Armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 45 lakh from employees of a bank at Phulnakhara on the outskirts of the State capital on Friday.
Sources said the employees of the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) were transporting the cash from the bank’s Niali branch to the Sahid Nagar branch in Bhubaneswar in a private vehicle when five to six persons wearing masks intercepted the vehicle.
The looters terrorised the occupants of the car by brandishing guns and snatched the money from their possession. They also damaged the vehicle before fleeing from the spot.
Police started investigation into the incident after the bank staffs lodged a complaint. The driver of the car was detained by police for questioning.
