The Commissionerate police on Sunday arrested a youth and seized 30 grams of brown sugar from his possession in the Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar.
The nabbed accused was identified as Abhijit Panda, a resident of Baleswar district. The estimated market price of the seized contraband is around Rs 3 lakh. Earlier the Khandagiri police had received information about Panda carrying out drug trading and was keeping a tab on its activities. On getting reliable inputs, they carried out a raid on his house.
During the search, the cops recovered the contraband, two smartphones and cash worth Rs 60,000 from his possession and took him into custody.
A number of cases are pending against the accused at different police stations. He is being interrogated to ascertain source of procurement of contraband and links, police said.
