The Titilagarh police raided the house of a notorious dacoit, Lokanath Kumbhara, at High school Pada in Titilagarh town in the district on Wednesday night.

During the raid, the police seized huge amounts of cash and golden jewellery.

Police said Lokanath is involved in three criminal cases registered against him at the Titilagarh police station. Besides, three cases are registered against him at the Muhabahal police station in 2018 and one case (45/18) is still pending against him at the Sindhekela police station.

On the direction of Titilagarh SDPO Saroj Mohapatra, a police team conducted a raid at Lokanath’s residence late in the night and detained his father Nassar Kumbhara as Lokanath somehow got wind of the raid and managed to flee before the police arrived.

The cops seized cash of Rs 37.32 lakh and a huge cache of stolen gold ornaments from his house.

While accused Lokanath is at large, his father is being interrogated at the police station about his son’s whereabouts. A detailed investigation and manhunt to nab Lokanath is on, police said.
