The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch arrested three persons and seized brown sugar worth Rs 31 lakh from their possession by conducting a raid under the Sadar police station in Jagatsinghpur district on Sunday.
Acting on a tipoff that the some peddlers were scheduled to deliver a brown sugar consignment, STF officials along with a team of the Jagatsinghpur police raided a house at Chamarsahi and conducted a search.
After a packet containing 310 grams of brown sugar was found and seized from the spot, the trio was taken into custody under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Police also seized five mobile phones, two motorbikes and Rs 2,470 in cash from the possession of the accused.
Further investigation into the drug trafficking racket was being carried out by the STF.
