In a crackdown on illegal drugs trade, the Commissionerate police Quick Action team (QAT) and the Balianta police arrested two drug peddlers and seized 225 grams of brown sugar from their possession in the Balianta area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The police team also seized two motorcycles, mobile phones and other incriminating materials from the possession of the drug runners.
Acting on a tipoff, the cops intercepted two motorcycles near Balianta in the afternoon. During the search, the cops seized 225 grams of the contraband from their possession.
The approximate market value of the seized narcotics will be around Rs 22 lakh, police sources said.
“The accused persons could not produce any valid documents in support of possessing the contraband, for which they have been arrested. The duo will be forwarded to the court. Further investigation is underway,” said a police officer.
