An unknown miscreant looted cash of about `20 lakh belonging to the Forest Department at Kuchinda.
As per information, forest ranger Gunanidhi Sahu of Badarama encashed a cheque of `20,20,635 from the SBI branch at Kuchinda and was returning to Kuchinda forest office in a vehicle when an unidentified miscreant snatched away a bag containing the cash near the forest office.
The incident occurred when the watchmen of the forest office was present.
The amount was meant for staff salary and other expenses like elephant preservation etc.
“No FIR has been registered so far,” informed Kuchinda IIC Prasanta Meher. However, things are under investigation, he added.
