While the State Government has spent Rs 20.8 crore for organisaing the Make-in-Odisha conclave, it has received investment proposal to the tune of Rs 2 lakh crore.
Industries Minister Anata Das informed this to the House on Friday on a question by BJP MlA Dilip Ray.
Ray wanted to know when the Make in Odisha programme was started, where was the programme organised (both in the State and outside, including foreign countries), how much was spent for the purpose and which organisations have evinced interest for which projects and how many of the projects have been set up so far. Minister Das said the Make in Odisha programme was started in 2016 and it proposed to be organised once every two years. He stated that so far the programme has not been organised outside the State or in foreign countries.
Das told that 84 industrial houses have proposed to set up ventures worth Rs 2,03,235 crore in the State. However, they have not signed MoU with the State Government. Das further stated that till January last, 35 projects worth Rs 25,5178 crore have got approval from the State Government through Single Window System out of 55 project proposals worth Rs 79,369 crore received till January last.Ray expressed concern that though the State Government is going to organise the Make in Odisha conclave in 2018 again after it was held in 2016, not a single project has been established out of the many proposals received. He urged the State Government to ensure that the steps should be taken to expedite the establishment of the projects for which proposals have been received in a stipulated period and large numbers of Odia youths are employed in them.
