Police and Excise Department officials on the instructions of Ganjam district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange and SP Brijesh Kumar Rain conducted a raid in Padipadar Ghat area and destroyed illegal ganja plantations in an area of 60 acre.
The raid was carried out based on intelligence inputs by a special team consisting 300 officials of forest, revenue, local tehsildar and police force.
The plantations were spread in many areas of Gouda Gotha pachayat in Sorada block of district.
The trees after felled were set afire. The estimated value of destroyed tress is about Rs 2 crore, said Excise DSP Abhimanyu Behera.
