In another daring broad daylight robbery, three unidentified bike-borne miscreants looted Rs 19 lakh from two Andhra Bank employees at gunpoint near Sarasbahal Chhak on the Deogaon Bangala-Kuturla road here on Tuesday.

Sources said Rs 19 lakh was being taken to Bandhapara Andhra Bank from Tusura branch in a Maruti van.

The miscreants intercepted the vehicle near Sarasbahal Chhak and thrashed the vehicle driver before smashing the window panes of the car.

The miscreants then threatened the Tusura Andhra Bank cashier Motilal Nag and peon Gandhi Mondal, who were present in the car, with a gun and fired some shots in the air and snatched the bag containing the cash and sped away.

According to available information, the vehicle driver Ghanshyam Ghadei sustained critical injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Balangir Medical College Hospital.

Later, police rushed to the spot and began an investigation after the bank staffs lodged a complaint. A forensic team and dog squad were also roped in by police for the investigation. The cops suspect that the miscreants had pre-planned the crime as the bank staffs used to take the same route daily to deposit cash in the branch.
