A team of Central Excise intelligence wing of Cuttack on Tuesday seized 175 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 17.5 lakh at Guamal under Tihidi block in Bhadrak district and arrested a drug peddler in this connection. The accused was identified as Tapan Kumar Behera. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Excise officials intercepted the accused near a temple in Guamal while he was allegedly transporting the contraband. During the search, the excise officials recovered 175 gram of brown sugar from Behera’s motorcycle. The officials after arresting Behera confiscated his motorcycle. “The accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.
