About 50 investors, who allegedly had deposited their hard earned money at Bhubaneswar-based DP Investment Services Private limited’s branch offices in Kendrapada, on Wednesday met the District Collector and lodged a complaint of duping against the company.
According to the investors, DP Investment Services had opened its branches at Garadapur, Chandol, Korua and Talasanaga a few years back. later, it targeted the gullible locals to collect money from them after luring them with promises to provide 3 per cent interest per month along with Rs 40,000 per annum on a fix deposit of Rs 1 lakh.
lured by fake promises of the branch managers and agents of the company, the locals had invested nearly Rs 15 crore. Initially, the company paid returns as promised, but within a few months, it started defaulting. For the last 15 months, the investors got neither the interest nor their principal amounts. Recently, several branch offices of the company have been closed, while the officials have disappeared from the locality, they alleged.
When contacted, District Collector Niranjan Nayak said that he received an allegation and forwarded it to the SP to take necessary action. He added that he would bring it to the notice of the DG of Crime Branch.
