Rs 118.80 cr for MKCG Hosp growth

The State Government has sanctioned Rs 118.80 crore for development of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. Development of infrastructure of the medical college would get a boost with the funds approved by the government, college principal AK Dandapat said.

It is also expected to help the college seek permission from the Medical Council of India to increase its MBBS seats by 100 from the next year, observers feel. The present strength of the college is 150.

“Infrastructure development of the medical college is a precondition for an increase in the MBBS seats and we are preparing to augment the infrastructure before we invite the MCI team,” said a senior officer of the college.

At least 28 central intensive care units (ICU), buildings to house super-specialty departments, laboratories and four lecture theatres would be built with the sanctioned fund, sources said.
