In view of the concerns expressed by members cutting across party lines in the State Assembly, the State Government on Monday made a statement on the Kotia issue, saying the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always prioritised development of the Kotia cluster of villages.

Revenue Minister Pramila Mallick said the CM has already announced a Rs 100 crore special package for construction of roads, electrification and livelihoods. Besides, development of police stations, health centres and model schools is going on, she said.

The district officials have been asked to monitor the situation.

The State Government has already started free bus services in the area, while 59 students have been enrolled in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya this year, she informed.

A review meeting was organised on July 16 under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to speed up the development process in Kotia, she added.
