In a significant success against illegal drugs trade, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Wednesday busted a major drug smuggling racket by arresting a person in Baleswar district.
The STF also seized 1.5 kg of brown sugar from the youth’s possession. The accused was identified as Sheikh Munaf Hussain.The STF team from Bhubaneswar was camping in the Jaleswar area for the last two days.Acting on a tipoff, the cops conducted a raid near Laxmannath check gate and seized the brown sugar from the youth, said sources. Notably, police has intensified its anti-narcotics operations all over State in last few months to curb smuggling of drugs. The STF has conducted raids at various places in last two months and detected seven cases of drug peddling including aforesaid case and also seized a total of 4.
