The Vigilance police recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.91 lakh from the car of Malkangiri Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) Abhimanyu Mohanty on Saturday.
According to reports, when the CSO was going to Jeypore of Koraput district from Malkangiri by the car, a team of Vigilance officials intercepted his vehicle for an inspection.
After finding the huge cash from the vehicle, the officials asked Mahanta about the source of the money.
As the CSO failed to give a satisfactory explanation and could not produce documents pertaining to the possession of the cash, the anti-corruption officials’ team detained him for interrogation.
