Even as police have intensified their drive against illegal ganja trade in the district, the traders are looking for innovative ways to carry on their trade.
In an example, police on Sunday seized a huge cache of ganja which was being smuggled in a water tanker in Mathili area.
Acting on a tipoff, the Mathili police laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle, in which the contraband item was being transported to Uttar Pradesh.
The cops during frisking of the vehicle seized 1,443 kgs of ganja worth over Rs 1.5 crore.
The cops arrested one person in this connection and also seized the vehicle. While the accused is being interrogated, a case has been registered against him under relevant Sections of the IPC, police said.
